What awning is right for my motorhome.
- There are two types of motorhome awnings: wall mounted or roof mounted. This is usually up to the discretion of the end user.
- Roof Mounted awnings are generally used on panel vans, to which there are various types of brackets available for different types of vehicles. These are not usually supplied with the awning as there is a vast selection. If you require fixing brackets please contact shop@spinney.co.uk stating the type of awning, type of vehicle and age of vehicle and we will be able to supply these. There are four types of roof mounted awnings available: Fiamma F65s, Omnistor 5102 and 6002 and the Prostor 600. The Omnistor 5102 is a purpose built awning for Volkswagen T5 and Transporter, however the other three awnings are suitable for most vehicles, the choice for these is simply up to the consumer.
- Wall Mounted awnings are the most commonly used motorhome awnings ranging from 2.5m to 7m awnings. The size of the awning is dependant on the size of the vehicle. These awnings can only be fitted to a flat side wall and therefore measuring for a side wall awning should take this into account. There are three manufacturers of side wall awnings: Fiamma, Omnistor and Prostor. The make of awning does not affect the operation of the awning; choice of make is totally dependant upon the user and is not dependable on the type of vehicle. In essence, all the wall mounted awnings by these companies do the same job!
